Finding Joy, Gratitude, and Purpose: Building a Brighter 2025

snowy winter village made with miniatures

As we approach a new year, I can’t help but reflect on how far I’ve come and dream about what’s next. Life hasn’t always been easy—I’ve battled addiction, faced devastating losses, and walked through some of the darkest valleys. But I’ve also found joy, purpose, and the beauty of turning pain into something meaningful. That’s why I’m so passionate about helping you do the same. Together, let’s set the stage for a 2025 filled with joy, growth, and purpose.

Envisioning Your Best Self

Close your eyes with me for a moment. Who do you want to be in 2025? What habits do you want to leave behind? How do you want to show up for the people you love—and for yourself? This is an exercise I practice often, and I’ll tell you, it’s powerful. It’s not just about dreaming—it’s about committing to the life you know you’re capable of living.

For me, one of my goals is to become fluent in Spanish by the time I travel to Mexico next fall. I also want to grow my finances—not for the sake of money, but so I can help more people. I believe in being a river, not a reservoir; blessings are meant to flow through us. What about you? What are the dreams you’ve been holding back? Let’s write them down, make them real, and start working toward them. You’re worth it.

Gratitude Changes Everything

I’ve learned that gratitude can transform even the hardest seasons. Sure, life can be tough, and sometimes it downright stinks. But there’s always something to be grateful for if we take the time to look. For me, it’s the little things—hot water, the ornaments on my Christmas tree, the privilege of folding laundry for the family I once prayed for. Gratitude shifts my perspective and keeps me grounded.

Even when grief sneaks up on me, I try to balance those moments by remembering the good. I think of the yellow butterfly that circled me on my wedding day—a sign from my mom, I believe, letting me know she was there. I let myself feel the emotions, but I also anchor myself in gratitude. I want you to do the same. Look around—what are the blessings in your life right now, big or small? Hold onto those.

Boundaries Are Love

The holidays are magical, but let’s be real—they can also bring some challenges. You know what I’m talking about: the intrusive questions about your weight, your relationship status, or your life choices. I’ve been there, and I’ve learned that setting boundaries is one of the most loving things you can do for yourself.

If someone brings up a topic you’re not comfortable discussing, try saying, “I’d rather not talk about that,” or simply ask, “Why do you ask?” Boundaries aren’t about being rude; they’re about protecting your peace. Trust me, people can’t respect boundaries you don’t communicate. This holiday season, let’s practice speaking up for ourselves with love and grace.

Connection and Giving Back

One of the things I’m most passionate about is fostering connection. Did you know loneliness is linked to so many health issues, including cognitive decline? That’s why I challenge myself—and now I’m challenging you—to adopt someone this holiday season. Maybe it’s a neighbor who lives alone or a coworker who seems distant. Maybe it’s a family who could use a little extra love.

For me, that looks like delivering a casserole to new neighbors or helping a family affected by a hurricane have a joyful Christmas. These acts of kindness don’t have to be grand; even a small gesture can mean the world to someone. So let’s open our hearts and remind the people around us that they are seen and loved.

Your Joyful 2025 Starts Now

Friend, I want you to know that you are capable of creating a life filled with joy, gratitude, and purpose. It starts with a vision, continues with gratitude, and flourishes through connection. This holiday season, let’s commit to living with intention. Let’s feel our feels, honor our growth, and make space for the people and moments that truly matter.

You were made for so much more than just getting by. You were made to thrive, to love deeply, and to leave a legacy. So, will you take the leap? Will you bet on yourself? I can’t wait to see what 2025 holds for you—and I’m cheering you on every step of the way.
